Basic Working Principle of Thyristor Medium Frequency Power Supply
The basic working principle of a thyristor medium-frequency power supply is to rectify 50Hz AC current into DC current through a three-phase bridge rectifier circuit.
1) Rectifier circuit. As can be seen from the circuit diagram, it consists of six thyristors, this circuit is called a three-phase fully controlled rectifier bridge, commonly known as a six-pulse rectifier. The working principle is to arrange the corresponding thyristors to turn on and off at the appropriate time according to a certain rule, and finally realize the conversion of three-phase AC power into DC power.
2) Filtering. Because the rectified voltage fluctuates greatly, a large inductor needs to be connected in series in the circuit to make the current smoother, so that the voltage with large fluctuations becomes smoother. This is the so-called filtering. This inductor is usually called a reactor. The characteristic of the reactor is to prevent the current from changing suddenly. After filtering, the relatively smooth DC power is supplied to the inverter circuit. Series equipment uses capacitors for filtering to obtain a smoother voltage.
3) Inversion. The inverter circuit converts DC power into higher-frequency AC power to supply the load, so this inverter is actually an "AC-DC-AC" converter, and its basic circuit is shown in the figure,
4) Series resonance. As can be seen from the figure, there are two circuits, a compensating capacitor and an inductor connected in series. The simple explanation is series resonance, and the commonly mentioned series equipment refers to this one.
5) Parallel resonance. A compensating capacitor and an inductor connected in parallel are called parallel resonance, and the commonly mentioned equipment defaults to parallel.
